I had a fiddle this and I have to say the build quality is very poor. Cheap plastic and rattley BD bay cover. Like a CD32, really.

I have just bought the new ps3, its already frozen once (bearing in mind i was on it for 9 hours but its brand new and i have 80gb one which doesnt freeze like that and its 4 years old).

The most ridiculous thing is that it flickers...what i mean by flickers is its making the tv flicker. My tv is perfectly fine, the old ps3 with it is perfectly fine (it doesnt flicker) but this is. The HDMI cable is perfectly fine too. Now i was wondering if the connection slot for the HDMI cable in the new ps3 has got some issues.

3rd of all if standing it up like i am doing now the sliding disc tray thing is very hard to close without using 2 hands whilst holding the ps3 firmly.

4th critisism is that the the vents for the fan to let air out are minimal.

Wish i just got the 320gb older slim cos this is just poorly made money making sony...and oh yeah sony are absolutly crap all they care about is £££.

The price is fine with 250 gig unit. The bundles are half decent, and the system is running good. I mostly use network games and have over 100 gigs worth of games downloaded to the system. Does the job but is a bit of a downgrade from the previous 2 models. If you have kids you will have to make sure they don't muck the blue ray laser which is exposed between switching disks. I can foresee dust being an issue for the door as well. This model will definitely drive the price down due to its lack of mechanics. Kinda wish I got the slim model to replace my Fat though. System is quieter. Runs blue ray 3d perfectly. Will do the job. Hope it lasts longer than my Fat model. Tell you in Six years.

i have an xbox 250 gig system, can't see the point in getting rid, but i am tempted in a new console or tablet. i am going to wait for a price drop. you just know the super slim will come down. i've seen the 12 gig £20 cheaper from using this clever site ***n00b weblink removed*** that monitors console deals.
Lets you know when the time is ryt. try it.

I have to agree with the above messages. The new cheap looking plastic ps3 s/s is not a cut above the rest in design. I would have preferred the original front auto loading blue ray disc compartment as opposed to this new hiding place for my young sons soggy toast, at least he couldn't even get a cracker into the slim model. I am also finding that the network adapter isn't picking up my signals as well as the original one did, now i may have to change which room my online gaming is played or move my router closer. I am also slightly disappointed with the xmb interface, if i had the new model covered over nobody will none the wiser that i had upgraded. Still, its that black gamey thing that sits under my large TV and the wife is none the wiser ive gone out and bought this new PS3 SS ;-)

Ok so i bought the new super slim
It's not bad at all, the sliding does need a bit more than just a delicate push but seems to work fine. the disks can be taken out with relitive ease (harder than older models though). But yea I got what i think was a very good deal. i bought the 12g model with Black ops 2 for $399 Nz which is around 204 pounds. and considering black ops 2 is going for 100+ dollars I am very pleased as the consol was effectivly 290 dollars. or 148 pounds

I had gotten this the day it came out. It's already beginning to freeze like the top comment said. If you are wanting a ps3 just go ahead with the slim to stay on the safe side, and save yourself from having to send it in to sony for repair (luckily I have a warranty). I have a feeling though that I will have to send it in for repair more than once.

All d idiots are talking about CHEAP plastic,, tel me u have to play wireless games sitting 5 mtrs away from ur LED/LCD and ur Console OR u have to sit and jump over ur console?? No issues wid cheap plastic,, Neither with the disk loading... Only problem is they dont give HDMI cable along wid it, but not an issue, u can buy it from ur Local electronics market, easily available at Rs. 150 only (At Naza market in Lucknow)..
Play and Enjoy and feel d graphics...
