Summary

Squaresoft have earned themselves a valuable reputation as elite developers of the role playing genre, particularly in Japanese territories. Since the arrival of Final Fantasy VII on western shores in 1997, Europe has taken notice of these qualities. New for 2000 is the arrival of Front Mission 3.

Front Mission 3’s turned-based combat style bears some resemblance to Konami’s Vandal Hearts series. Battles take place on grid like environments that allow the characters to incorporate movement and attack fields, increasing the strategic element of FM3. RPG’s have a tendency to be among the largest games available in terms playing times. There are two scenarios to choose from, each one consisting of around 70 hours of game play, totalling a whopping 150 hours in total.

A new addition for FM3 is the incorporation of in-game Internet and e-mail systems. You are responsible for checking your mail at PC outlets within the game. If you fail to do so, you could lose information relevant to the upcoming challenges that await you. If you’re into “dungeons and dragons” type board games, or have a craving for a game of chess, Front Mission 3 is just the type of game for you.
