Summary

To say that Final Fantasy XV was a long time coming is a titanic understatement. It started life (at least in the public eye) in 2006 as PS3 exclusive Final Fantasy Versus XIII, a game in the Fabula Nova Crystallis series. While the games it was announced alongside eventually made it into the world, Versus XIII went quiet and entered into the realm of gaming myth, along with the likes of Half-Life 3 and The Last Guardian. Eventually, however, it resurfaced as XV, a mainline entry in the storied series and now it gets a new lease of life with this enhanced Royal Edition, featuring an all-new dungeon, first-person mode, all the season pass content and hundreds of pieces of DLC.

One of the big draws for fans is the fact that the game has a very open structure, a relief to some fans who complained about the linearity of XIII. You can wander the vast game world in a car (by road or by air) that you can customise in a variety of ways. As you wander the world, you'll be able to eat meals made at campfires or bought at restaurants to get a temporary stat boost as you head into combat. Your party even have non-combat skills including survival, cooking and photography.

You play as Prince Noctis, the heir of Lucius, the nation that holds the last great crystal. On a road trip with your best friends you hear a report that your father, your betrothed and you yourself have been killed in an invasion begun under the pretense of a false treaty.

To rescue your kingdom you'll need to master skills of weaponry and magic in order to become a champion worthy of the crown.

With Square Enix offering hundreds of hours of content, this is a massive feast for FF fans!
