Jade Raymond: The Jessica Alba Of Gaming?

Assassin's Creed producer appearing in London

Jade Raymond: The Jessica Alba Of Gaming?
It would seem that Jade Raymond, the producer behind Ubisoft's Assassin's Creed, has become the game's main selling point.

Jade is set to make an appearance at HMV's flagship store on Oxford Street this Saturday, and the Internet is positively a-buzz. Never mind the fact that the British public will have access to new levels from the latest build of one of Ubisoft's hottest Crimbo releases - it's all about Jade.

Given Ms Raymond's programming background and degree in computer science, she can be seen as more than a simple piece of fluff fronting a game. However, you've got to have sneaking suspicion that Ubisoft might not be using her degree as the main point when press releasing the industry regarding her appearance.

Either way, we've got nothing against the lady - after all we interviewed her, right here regarding Assassin's Creed. You can also see her in action talking about the game here.

Andy SPOnG saw Jade's photo and mysteriously got the urge to go to the newsagent's for a copy of crossword compendium Puzzler.

Ubisoft tells us, "The presentation is open to all members of the public and will take place at 3pm and then again at 4.30pm on the day. Jade will meet and answer questions from the public and also sign merchandise available for the game."

Crikey! It worked though... Ubisoft has used Jade Raymond to get us to mention Assassin's Creed!

*sigh*... This industry REALLY needs to grow up some more.

I'm not saying she's not deserving of the role or anything - but it seems the gauranteed way to get a high rated job in this industry is to be an attractive woman.

Sad as f**k,.

If there's cameras on Saturday and she gives a wink, all the fanboys'll cream themselves.

Assassin's Creed doesn't seem all that good. It appealed at first cos of the level of interaction but, now that Mario Galaxy's out next month, I've no interest in it anymore. Probably just a passing fancy.

If she wasn't producing Assassin's Creed, would all that hype be there? She IS the main selling point. And since it's being created by the "core team behind Sands of Time", it's even less appealing. I hated that game. Glad I got it cheap.

Hold on there, smelly old lad, but - Perrin Kaplan of Nintendo (who is leaving) aside - name one woman who is really, seriously high-up in the video games industry?

Cheers Tim

But when a girl does do well, why do we immediately have to sexualise her?

Why is the games industry so sad with this regards?

Look at trashy sites such as gamesradar for more proof of this.

Games industry... music industry... movie industry.... But, sure, the games industry is a case in point. Frankly, I don't have a problem with sexualising people if they do well (or badly). We are after all, sexual animals. Denying that is all a bit 1970s Spare Rib / repressive Puritanism for me.

The problem is not seeing past the sexualisation. The glass ceiling is still firmly grouted in place...

The games industry is still young - no matter all this b******s about "being like movies" - and has run the same course - in terms of marketing product (T&A) and professional progression (you're going to leave and have a baby, aren't you?) as every other industry. It's a pity maybe that it's not learnt rather more rapidly.

Any how - I'm off to Vegas for my birthday...

I agree in some respects Smelly with you, Tim asked for another high ranking females within the games industry and well there isnt any to mind or quick research, and for that we should respect her achievements rather than her measurements firstly,
but also at the same time I see no harm in sexualising her, I mean she is attractive and the gaming industry in whole is mainly men who would be attracted to her (save those of a Homosexual persuasion, but this is problem is made back by the women gamers of a homosexual persuasion possibly), and as I see it Jade seems to like the attention it brings her and her company and she hasn’t complained in fact every time the reasons she has a fan base is even hinted upon she has a shy turn away smile, let the girl have her cake and eat eh?

But yes we should also recognise she is talented in more ways than one.
