Summary

Undoubtedly one of 2003’s most anticipated releases, Terminator 3 hit cinemas with bang, selling millions of tickets to movie-goers and diehard Arnie fans. But strangely, such a big release was lacking a video game equivalent at the time of launch. However, it’s finally here in time for Christmas on Xbox.

Based closely on the events of the film, the Xbox incarnation of the game pits players as the Terminator itself in an attempt to defend John Connor and prevent a looming apocalypse. As players progress through the game’s familiar movie locations, they’ll consistently find themselves up against the machines’ latest killer, the TX.

For combat, developer Black Ops has incorporated a simple yet diverse combat engine that is intuitive and lets players fight in a manner of ways. Hand-to-hand combat is the most basic of them all, but with 20 futuristic and present-day weapons at the Terminator’s disposal, you’ll rarely be using your fists. Weapons include the SkyNet Arc-Laser, the Micro Rocket Launcher and the AR-15 Assault Rifle complete with grenade launcher.

Armed to the teeth, your mission will take you across many typical gaming environments that include military bases and secret labs. And to make the adventure a little more fluid, the game boasts an additional five minutes of Terminator 3 footage that can’t be found in the big-screen equivalent. Together with character likenesses and voice overs from Arnie himself, Terminator 3 for Xbox is also the most authentic in the virtual series yet.

So, if you want to participate in a compelling futuristic adventure or you wish to know a little more about the origins of the Terminator, this latest Xbox game is ideal.
