Summary

The rugby simulator isn't the most common genre in the world of video games. But every now and then, a developer delivers, and following in the wake of the popular Rugby League game release in late 2003, comes Digital Jesters' Pro Rugby Manager 2004 on PC.

But where Rugby League was a slightly simpler affair, Pro Rugby Manager has players heading up a large number of international teams through a series of international tournaments. There are 100 clubs to manage altogether, that cover the rugby-loving countries of the UK, France, Italy, New Zealand, South Africa and Australia amongst others. Of course, your ultimate goal is to pit them in a series of well known tournaments and win. These championships include the Super 12, Tri-Nations, Six Nations and the World Cup.

But before you can start gunning for glory, you have to learn to manage, and it's here where the core of the game lies. Making key decisions in an attempt to improve the status of your chosen club, you'll be responsible for the hiring and firing of your players, as well as their training routines. On the pitch, you'll be able to make substitutions in real-time, and you'll have to deal with under-performing players and injuries accordingly. It's a mighty task, even in the virtual world, but it you're a fan of the sport, then Pro Rugby Manager 2004 will do just nicely.
