Summary

Role-playing game fans - and JRPG fans in particular - have had a bountiful year in 2016. Following on from the likes of Bravely Second: End Layer and Fire Emblem Fates comes Dragon Quest VII: Fragments of the Forgotten Past. It's a reimagining of a 16-year-old PSOne classic from the much-loved Dragon Quest series, built from the ground up in 3D.

It begins with lifelong friends Auster, Prince Kiefer and Maribel setting out to prove that, despite what the elders they know say, the world is bigger than their small island. It's a journey that swiftly grows beyond their wildest imaginings, however, and will see them travelling through time to rescue long lost civilisations in order to save the future!

Players can customise Auster, Prince Kiefer and friends with over 50 vocations across over 50 different vocations, enabling them to specialise in a variety of classes ranging from Warrior to Mage to Martial Artist. Each brings its own specialties to the fight, enabling players to really strategise over how they want to engage in combat.

Making use of the 3DS's StreetPass functionality, players will be able to send and receive traveller's tablets to explore new dungeons populated by rare monsters and unique equipment.
