SPOnG: There are three modes in
Trion Cube, did you ever have any plans to include different modes (like a challenge mode or puzzle mode)?
Kouji Asuna: It did come across my mind at one stage to implement such modes. However, we felt that the story mode covers such area as well thus decided to drop it at the end.
SPOnG: Why did you decide not to use the touchscreen to move the blocks around in
Trion Cube?
Kouji Asuna: The feature was available during the development phase. It didn’t really feel natural or make things easier by moving the blocks with the touchscreen so decided to take the feature out at the end.
SPOnG: Do you think
Trion Cube could potentially be a long-running series? Do you think the game would work as well on the PSP or home consoles?
Kouji Asuna: All opportunities will definitely be considered if such demands or potential can be seen in the market.
SPOnG: Previously you have worked on the Mr. Driller series. Are there any plans to release any new Mr. Driller titles? The DS version of
Mr. Driller was fantastic and is still very playable.
Hideo Yoshizawa, (Producer of
Trion Cube steps in as he’s the only person to have worked on the
Driller series) Thank you to everyone for your support towards
Mr. Driller! We can’t reveal any plans though, I’m afraid.
SPOnG: Considering that Namco Bandai has a history of releasing its classic games on Xbox Live Arcade, are you planning on releasing any of the
Mr Driller games as downloadable titles?
Kouji Asuna: All titles are considered at all times. No firm commitment at this stage I’m afraid.
SPOnG: Finally, are you working on any new projects at the moment?
Kouji Asuna:Actually, a top secret project which cannot be mentioned [smiles].
SPOnG:Thank you for your time Asuna-san, and thank you too, Yoshizawa-san.
