Summary

The World Cup is synonymous with some of the greatest moments in football history, and with Electronic Arts' tie-in to the '98 championship, you can re-write the history books, and not just that year's competition. There are more international teams in here than you can shake a sizeable stick at, plus a selection of club teams from around the world, so there's little chance of getting bored with what's on offer. You certainly won't get tired of the gameplay-it's so fluid and easy to control, the net will be bulging with your spectacular goal-bound efforts pretty soon after first picking up the joypad.

The team edit function allows you to enter your choice of clubs, strips, even players' facial features. Okay, this seems like no big deal, but it adds to the fun of playing when you can select yourself as midfield dynamo for your favourite team. Also, if you use the joypad buttons imaginitively, you can commit some vicious fouls and end up playing seven-a-side!

I'm over the moon, Brian. Result for EA, yet again.
