Summary
THE SETTLERS III is a lavishly designed game in which the principles of construction, strategy and colonization merge to form an exciting and challenging gaming experience. The player chooses to lead the resourceful Romans, the skilfull Egyptians, or the aggressive Asian race to victory. In single-player mode, the opposing races or tribes are played by the artificial intelligence of the computer. In multiplayer mode on LAN or in Internet gameplay, the opponents can either be human players or computer controlled.
Each of THE SETTLERS races has distinctive abilities and characteristics and can have construction, military or strategic strengths, or a balanced combination of them all. The player makes decisions about constructing buildings, obtaining food, expanding into new unknown areas and managing resources carefully. Settlers clear and level construction sites; build residences, farms, smelting works or shipping yards; worship their gods in magnificent temples and gradually create a flourishing economy. But by constructing new towers and castles, they soon encounter the borders of neighboring tribes. Tribes who aren’t necessarily peaceful.
