Summary

Lego’s interactive division, Lego Media, has had reasonable success with a number of Lego-based videogames, covering a variety of genres. From racing games to games of exploration and construction, the Lego universe is bigger than ever. But it’s about to get a whole lot bigger with the release of Legoland, the company’s first management game for PC.

In Theme Park style, your challenge is to construct and manage your very own park. Although this may sound like a fun task, it is not an easy one. First of all, because Legoland is aimed at kids, the game has been designed with its target audience in mind. Legoland is not a complex game to get to grips with, and doesn’t require extensive play to understand completely. The game has been made appealing through a number of visual enhancements involving bright colours and large text. Ideal for a young child, and even a hardcore adult Lego fan, I suppose.

Before you can begin the management side of things, you must first build your theme park. Working on a grid-type surface, you must construct your attractions carefully to prevent further problems as your park expands. You must then learn to keep your park clean, look after your guests, and consistently maintain your rides. As long as you think ahead, Legoland shouldn’t cause you too much trouble.

Legoland is purely a game designed for pleasure but it also proves to be informative and educational. The kids won’t even know they are learning something about real-life situations.
