Summary

The Street Fighter series has been one of the furthest pushed franchises in video game history since the release of Street Fighter 2 back in 1991. From that day, there was to be a vast number of sequels, remakes, and version conversions. Almost ten years later, a game that goes by the name of Street Fighter Alpha hits the shelves for GameBoy Color.

This Alpha version of the series features 13 characters from the arcade version, including the infamous Ryu, fighting along side the likes of Chun-Li and Sagat. SFA bears great similarities to earlier versions of Street Fighter, since there are essentially around three special attacks per character. These moves can be executed using delicate movements of the directional pad combined with the punch and kick buttons.

In addition to the standard arcade mode, you also have the option of training and practice modes. These are very helpful if you are intent on developing your own strategies and combos. Once perfected, you can take on some of the game’s harder difficulty levels.

Street Fighter Alpha is simply a remake of the original Street Fighter 2, but with a few new features. All in all, this game retains the features that originally made the series so popular. As they say, if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.
