Kiss Psycho Circus: The Nightmare Child - Dreamcast

A game staring a rock band that is famous for wearing makeup is an unusual thing and some might argue that this is the way it should stay. Not us though! Kiss Psycho Circus is a classic Doom-em-up complete with fireball spitting monsters and frenzied key collecting.

You play as a member of the band and are charged with ridding the world of the strange and mysterious freaks that were spawned by the conception of an unborn evil, The Nightmare Child. The arrival of this child on earth has torn the very fabric of reality requiring the intervention of one of the Kiss elders.

The band arrives at The Coventry, a roadhouse on the outskirts of town to play a gig. Upon their arrival one band member notices that there are no lights on anywhere and no people in sight. They enter the building regardless only to be molested by a plethora of nasty freak-creatures.

The initial problem the Dreamcast version of Kiss Psycho Circus is the dodgey control method offered by the pad. This can be overcome with practice or you can get out some cash and buy a recommended Dreamcast keyboard and mouse. There is a strong House of the Dead vibe in Psycho Circus. This probably comes from the tall anonymous buildings and general uneasy ambience of the game. As with all first person shooters, the monster hunting rockers come equipped with a decent array of fantasy weapons and power-ups. The Kiss soundtrack, which includes such tracks as Detroit Rocker City and Love Gun, should keep fans of the band happy.
