Summary

I think I know what’s going through your mind. Didn’t Electronic Arts bring us F1 2000 not so long ago? Well, yes they did, and that was a game of superb playability and with plenty of opportunity to tweak and tune to your heart’s content. So what’s the difference? F1 Championship Season 2000 plays even better than its predecessor, and if you’re familiar with F1 2000, just take a moment and imagine how good that could be. The sense of speed, the handling, track design – it’s all been improved, and where F1 2000 looked a little ragged around the edges if you looked too closely, …Season 2000 is more Clark Gable than gable end.

F1 Championship Season 2000 includes a fully interactive training mode where players can test their skills outside the competition circuit and improve their performance. Also found amongst the extras are post-race summaries and the opportunity to study your performance with a full replay facility. Training mode allows you to finely hone your driving skills before you get near the starting grid. Formula 1 fanatics will be able to fully immerse themselves in their races with television broadcast-style presentation. The cameras’ positioning on the tracks have been directed and positioned by award-winning Formula 1 race director Keith McKenzie giving authentic broadcast camera replication, including on-board camera images as well as pre-race introductions. ITV’s Jim Rosenthal is the announcer, but there’s no sign of Messrs Walker and Brundle. You don’t really miss them though, because F1 Championship Season 2000 is all about authenticity. The only sounds you hear are the screaming engines, the odd cheer from the crowd, and a tinny voice rattling around your helmet, informing you of what’s going on regarding your performance and the actions of the other drivers.

Electronic Arts were already way ahead of the competition in this genre thanks to F1 2000. Now F1 Championship Season 2000 is here to storm the podium and steal all the champagne. Formula 1 gamers, you know what to do.
