It comes as no surprise that Natsume, a Japanese-based company, are quite well-known for producing games that are more commonly known as RPGs in the eastern world. But the theme upon which a game of this type is based is something unique to the software house in question. Strangely, in an unusual move, Natsume has gone for a game based upon fishing. What’s it all about? Read on.

Because of the 2D nature of GameBoy productions, Legend of the River King 2 (LORK2) bears striking similarities to Nintendo’s classic Pokemon games. A top-down perspective has been employed, along with some much disliked random battles, although they have been toned down a little for this instalment. To prevent LORK 2 from being a little intimidating, Natsume has a light-hearted story, a shallow learning curve and is instantly accessible to all audiences.

Regarding fishing, much of your gaming time will be spent catching as many different types of fish as possible. There are sixty species of fish to collect in total that are roughly divided into fresh water and sea water varieties. To help you perfect your angling skills you can purchase different types of bait, fishing rods and accessories, provided you have the money. Thanks to the GameBoy Color’s link up option certain animals, plants and insects can be traded with owners of either the LORK 2 or of Harvest Moon 2, also from Natsume. Ultimately, such a feature with a vast range of possibilities will remain the main selling point of LORK 2, it’s great.
