Summary

Street Tennis for PC turns the deadly serious sport of Tennis into a light-hearted, fun experience. Take to the streets, grab a racket and a fluffy yellow ball, and prepare for the ultimate tennis game.

Because of the game’s relaxed attitude towards tennis, Carapace has developed the theme of Street Tennis to be totally chilled out and set in non-tournament-like environments. The ‘courts’ have been rendered beautifully, and are surrounded by typical urban features, decorated with plenty of graffiti.

In terms of gameplay, Street Tennis is comprehensive. As well as featuring a 1-4 player mode, the in-game mechanics are delightfully accurate. Players can execute several devastating combinations of lobs, volleys, smashes and slices to defeat the opposition. The animation is fluid and features characters diving all over the court to save that precious match point.

For good measure, Carapace has incorporated several ‘Easter Eggs’ that make gameplay even more interesting. Each of the playable characters features a signature special move. But discovering this hidden extra is part of the challenge Street Tennis offers.

Street Tennis is all about fun, simple gameplay. Do you really need flashy special effects, lengthy FMV and complex gameplay? Not all of the time, as Street Tennis ably demonstrates.
