Among the first pinball games to hit the Game Boy Advance, Ubi Softs Muppet Pinball Mayhem, developed by Digital Eclipse, offers players a blinding game of virtual pinball together with that famous Muppet humour we all know and love.
Once youve made it past the usual barrage of Muppet pleasantries, you are invited to play on any of three character-themed tables. As an added incentive, theres a fourth table to unlock that can be done, predictably, through gaining massive scores. Of the four tables, Kermit and Miss Piggys pink and green tables are the most challenging and involving, but ultimately, the objective remains the same. Using the abundance of bonuses and ramps littered around each of the tables, you must score as many points as possible. Enough said.
The tables themselves have been rendered beautifully, and while still technically in 2D, they have been given an isometric perspective, making them just that little bit more believable.
The variety of control configurations and difficulty settings help to make this game accessible to both the casual gamer and pinball aficionado. Theyve even thrown in an LED score display for a little extra authenticity.
Other features such as sound effects and music are superficial, but welcome touches, nonetheless. As a PlayStation 2 or GameCube game, Muppet Pinball Mayhem might have lacked the qualities needed to keep gamers glued to their screens, but as a mobile game, its fantastic.
