Another famous animated cartoon-turned-video game product, THQs The Ripping Friends, courtesy of Fox Interactive, is coming to Game Boy Advance.
Despite the Ripping Friends frighteningly masculine appearance, complete with oversized biceps and exaggerated jaw lines, they're a bunch of good guys. These manly hero figures only want freedom and happiness for their homeland Ripcot, and they are sworn to rip anything that stands in the way of this noble objective. But, as usual, the cunning Citrasett and his evil minions of death and doom are bent on the destruction of the Ripping Friends. Playing as Rip, Chunk, Slab or Crag, you must defend yourself and foil Citrasetts sinister plot.
Okay, so its an over-the-top story for a handheld beat-em-up, but it does kind of drive the game forward. Switching on the game, you must choose your character before you are thrown into a dangerous area populated by your archenemys henchmen and a number of other nasty boss characters. The game lies somewhere between a classic game of Streets of Rage and Smackdown in terms of gameplay. Moving around with the d-pad and slapping a few buttons at the right moment, you will be able to punch and kick the enemy as well as throw them in a variety WWF style combinations.
The Ripping Friends is divided into seven main playing levels and five additional sub-levels. Simply beat all the bad guys in the area to proceed. Its simple enough in the beginning, but it soon becomes more challenging as the opposition becomes more intelligent and the screen becomes heavily populated with Citrasetts evil minions.
Were sure you can handle yourself though. After all, you do have the biggest biceps in the galaxy at your disposal.
