Summary

Taking inspiration from the simple mechanics of titles such as Virtua Tennis, developer Hokus Pokus have attempted to bring a playable and addictive arcade tennis sim to the PC. The result is Fila World Tour Tennis and it promises to be the greatest simulation of the sport ever - a slightly over-ambitious statement possibly, but confident nonetheless.

In keeping with the standard for tennis games these days, Fila WTT is in the typical third person, 3D perspective. All the various different court types - you know, grass, clay, indoor - are lovingly rendered and faithfully emulate their respective attributes.

A total of 200 computer opponents can be played against across the game's three single player modes. Arcade and Challenge mode both provide the player with an easy-to-pick-up quick set or two, whilst Career mode puts players in for the long haul, providing, unsurprisingly, a full career to play through. Finally, a multiplayer mode allows PC owners with enough controllers and USB ports to play with up to three of their friends.

In producing this title, the developers have implemented over 80 motion-captured movements, giving each player model a realistic feel as they bounce around the court. A great deal of effort has also been placed on creating accurate ball physics so, despite the game's emphasis on arcade-style gameplay, an authentic feel is present throughout.
