Summary

In a kinda 'Buffy the Vampire Slayer meets Tomb Raider' adventure game, helicopter pilot Kitty Hawk is shot down on an unknown island in the middle of the Pacific Ocean. Her accompanying boyfriend, Jeffrey, is killed in the process, and so a vengeance-filled quest begins to hunt down the person responsible for these tragic events. But with enemy air fire keeping the island isolated, she'll have to go it alone, using her wits and strategy to stay alive in K Hawk: Survival Instinct for PC.

Armed with only a pistol and a few bullets, Kitty's adventure begins with a heavy dose of stealth-based gameplay, as she hides from the mysterious villain's myriad cohorts. A few swift movements and a dead soldier later, you'll soon find yourself in possession of some more formidable ammunition. But use it wisely, your resources are limited and the game's smart AI is nothing short of cunning. A careful balance of stealth and combat is the best way to progress, and players must be prepared to alter their strategy at a moment's notice.

The 3D game engine is very similar to Core's Tomb Raider games, but the character animation is far more fluid, thanks to a bunch of cutting edge technologies. Survival Instinct is very much a tale of one person's revenge against a whole army, and the seamless cut-scenes help to drive the captivating plot forward. While it doesn't excel at any particular point, in terms of both gameplay and narrative, it's a good all round adventure title that comes recommended.
