Summary

2002, and the world has gone football mad, but hey, it only happens once every four years. Among the dozens of football games and football management games released around World Cup 2002 is Lego’s very own Football Mania for Game Boy Advance.

As you would expect, Lego Football Mania lets its players take the plastic-brick community onto the pitch to kick around a surprisingly rounded ball in a stiff manner. Lego guys never were very agile, but that doesn’t stop them having plenty of fun.

The rules are pretty much self-explanatory, and if you don’t know how football works, you’re reading about the wrong game. As with every other footy game, all you have to do is score goals by kicking the ball into the opposition’s goal. If you score more goals than the competition, you win. Of course, in true video game fashion, victorious players will be rewarded with a variety of bonuses. We won’t spoil it for you by telling you what hidden goodies are on offer. You’ll have to find out for yourself.

Due to the technical limitations of the Game Boy Advance hardware, Lego Football Mania is played in an old school isometric perspective that doesn’t really hinder gameplay in any way. The graphics reek of the 16-bit era, but are nice too look at nonetheless.

It’s great, it’s football, so buy it.
