Summary

With such an inspired title, it's not difficult to ascertain what this latest driving sequel from Ubi Soft consists of. That's right, it's a Racing Simulation - and an extremely realistic one at that. Placing you in the driving seat, Racing Simulation 3 casts you at the heart of the game's F1-style action, and demands that you hone both your driving and strategy skills to perfection in order to succeed.

There's a total of six different racing modes, ranging from a driving school to a complete championship, offering both single and multiplayer challenges. The action takes place across 16 highly detailed tracks, fully modelled in 3D, and against virtual competitors that feature some seriously enhanced AI.

Throughout the game, the emphasis is definitely on realism, with a number of improvements testament to this. Each of the game's vehicles consists of over 3000 polygons, as well as such intricacies as tyre relief, quarter lights and hollowed aerations. In each case, a wide range of car settings and racing options are available to tailor things to your satisfaction, all benefiting from the inclusion of a new setting guide, designed to prevent you from getting lost amidst all the data.

There's a million and one different racing games available for the PS2 but not all of them are as simulation-orientated as RS3. If this is the kind of thing you've been hankering after, then you need look no further.
