Summary

The big N's first venture into the world of video games, Radarscope was basically a space-based shoot-em-up in similar vein to Namco's Galaxians. According to Minoru Arakawa, president of NOA at the time, it was more sophisticated however.

The game was hugely popular in Japan - being the country's 'number two' after Pac-Man - but ultimately failed to succeed in the States, mainly due to the fact that it was one of the most expensive games in the industry. And it wasn't very good either.

Interestingly, the cabinets of Nintendo's surplus of unsold Radarscope machines would later go on to house the immensely more successful Donkey Kong.
