Summary

The popular American TV show Alias is just one of many cult series that has crossed the Atlantic to make the grade with UK audiences. But few series become a success to the extent that they are welcomed into the world of video games. Alias, however, is one of them.

The game takes the form of the now familiar third-person stealth-em-up/action romp, with players stepping into the shoes of schoolgirl-cum-CIA agent Sydney Bristow. Missions are plentiful and the pressure is always on, whether you're up against the clock or being hunted by the enemy, fighting against the odds or fleeing for your life.

Each of the game's missions takes you to various different exotic locations around the globe and, you'll be pleased to hear, more often than not requires you to take advantage of spyware, state-of-the-art gadgets and alluring disguises. But stealth is not the only element in Alias, as combat plays a significant role as well, with you being thrown into hand-to-hand battles and also making use of a variety of improvised weapons and guns.

On the visual front, Alias is quite impressive. All the moves throughout have been motion-captured (granted, not really a thing to shout about these days, but looks nice all the same) and there are also a number of aesthetically pleasing effects that have been implemented, such as realistic-looking cloth technology and spectacular lighting.

As far as game licences go, Alias has kept very close to its TV roots, and thus makes for an authentic playing experience, having a storyline co-written by the show's scriptwriters and even going as far as to include costumes designed especially for it. Fans of the show will love it - those of you not so familiar with it may still find an enjoyable stealth adventure within.
