No blockbuster movie release is complete without an accompanying virtual tie-in, giving fans the chance to enjoy a little piece of the action for themselves. Van Helsing is no different, considering that its monster-slaying concept is ideal video game material, and has consequently benefited from both a PS2 and Xbox adventure, as well as this portable alternative for Game Boy Advance.

As with most similar titles for Nintendo's portable, the story and general concept of the game is the same as that of its bigger home console siblings, albeit via a scaled down, 2D venture to suit the machine's limited hardware. As such, the game casts you as none other than the baddie-banishing Van Helsing himself, as he attempts to put a stop to Dracula's evil scheme and destroy the dark creatures that inhabit the ancient land of Transylvania.

Over the course of your crusade, you travel through 10 different supernatural environments - such as a haunted forest, ominous caverns, and both Castle Frankenstein and Castle Dracula - doing battle with untold fiends and evil minions including the likes of The Wolf Man, Mr. Hyde and, of course, the legendary dark prince himself, Dracula (not to mention his brides).

Kitting you out throughout your plight is a rather impressive arsenal of deadly weapons (and we wouldn't expect any less, would we?) including such goodies as pistols, tojo blades, shotguns and an electric gun. In addition, you also get to take advantage of the eponymous hero's signature grappling hook, which can be used to drag creatures within melee range and also to escape from certain tricky situations.

As far as movie licences go, Van Helsing is just the job, delivering plenty of action amidst a storyline and setting faithful to their respective silver screen inspirations.
