Summary

Released back in October 2003, Broadsword Interactive's thumb in the proverbial Bemani pie brought the average living room dancing queen pretty much everything they could wish for. Dance: UK delivered not only a large selection of popular chart hits along to which you could strut your stuff, but also a unique 8-way dance mat and a selection of accompanying peripherals, such as a 2.1 sound system and a rather snazzy microphone headset. In addition, the game also promised the ability to add new songs without the cost of having to buy a new full price game. Well, in case you hadn't already guessed, eXtra Trax is precisely what was promised, adding a host of, erm, extra tracks to your beloved Dance: UK experience.

Any chart fan will be pleased to discover that some of their favourite tunes of recent times are included, as well as a couple of dance floor classics. In fact, it would be far easier to simply give you the full list, so we'll do just that:

Atomic Kitten - Whole Again

Blue - Fly By

Darude - Sandstorm

Girls Aloud - No Good Advice

Ian Van Dahl - Castles In The Sky

Jamelia - Superstar

Jamiroquai - Cosmic Girl

Javine - Real Things

Liberty X - Just A Little

Livin' Joy - Dreamer

Rachel Stevens - Sweet Dreams My LA Ex

So Solid Crew - 21 Seconds

In addition to the new songs, eXtra Trax also adds a number of cosmetic improvements to the game, such as more textures in the studio sets, better character animations, enhanced cameras and improved dynamic and animated lighting movements. The actual gameplay has also undergone the odd tweak here and there, with the inclusion of a new beginner level and difficulty ratings for each track.

If you're a Dance: UK fan then eXtra Trax is the perfect addition to your collection and will certainly add a little more life to your favourite dance-em-up. According to the game's press release, the developers had to work through the Christmas break to ensure it made it to the shelves on time (poor souls!), so be grateful!
