Summary

It’s a great franchise that’s been around for some time. UFO is older than old school, and quite frankly we lose track of how many UFO or X-Com titles there have been over the years. Aftershock is the second in the series, though, since the rebirth of the franchise in UFO: Aftermath.

The series now is set in one of those bleak futures, where the Earth has been ruined and the tattered remnants of humanity are forced to take refuge on a different planet, or a huge spaceship. In this case they’ve plumped for a spaceship, or a space colony to be precise, the Laputa.

But even in times of species-threatening strife humans, it would seem, retain the capacity to be beastly to each other. The overlords of the Laputa become increasingly mean and totalitarian, leading to a revolt in which the space station is dealt a killer blow. 50 years have passed since the crisis which drove humanity from the earth’s surface, but now there’s only one place left to go – back home to the mother planet.

Using a mix of classic UFO tactical squad combat and global strategy, you must lead the human race to victory over the nameless forces that stole your planet away. With huge skyscrapers to explore, and destructible environments, the storyline will pull you along as you meet powerful enemies and allies. The gameplay is a blend of RPG, diplomacy, skill building, research and tactics. You didn’t expect capturing a planet to be easy did you?
