Summary

Developed by Sports Interactive, Football Manager 2007 (FM 2007) boasts more than 100 new features that are designed to improve the ease of use and help first time players access the world of football management. Naturally, FM 2007 is the most extensive of the series to date.

Significant improvements have been made to the match engine. Controversial decisions are now highlighted more in the game. Post-match interviews can now affect the game, though the FA can act on what managers say. It is important to consider your approach, as touchline bans can be enforced if you step out of line. The match engine has taken great strides with improved commentary, more match events and more life-like features. For example, players warm up on the touchlines, managers can now give pre-match team talks, more intuitive half time team talks and match time is now displayed in the tactics screen.

Football Manager 2006 saw the successful introduction of manager interaction. This year's version includes player interaction: not just users' own players as in previous instalments, but players throughout the whole football world. There is a wide selection of topics to talk about, all of which depend on the player's status. You can talk face-to-face with a player or through the media about various subjects, such as signing a new contract, the player's form and tips about future opposition. Every action has a consequence and there can be negative or positive effect as relationships become strained with other clubs and managers if you express too much interest in their players. They may refuse to deal with you when concerning transfers or put in loads of bids for your players which will lower your team's morale.

Feeder clubs are another welcome addition to FM 2007. There are many different types of affiliate clubs and Sports Interactive have tried to get as many of these relationships in the game as possible, but it is up to the board to decide what type of relationship your club needs, if one is needed at all.

Other new features available in FM 2007 is the ability to move stadiums, potential takeovers from supporter groups and investments for your club from abroad.
