Summary

Transformers Animated delivers a unique mix of arcade thrills exclusively to Nintendo DS owners. The game for is based not on the recent Transformers movie, but on the animated television series of the same name - though the basic premise of both is very similar. The game delivers delivers a range of action-adventure gameplay featuring everyone's favourite cars that turn into Gundam style robots. The driving action takes place across a range of locations that fans of the series will recognise.

In Transformers Animated, you can select your favourite Autobot character, including Optimus Prime, Bumblebee, Bulkhead and Prowl. The upper screen of your DS shows which character you are playing, and your current status while the action takes place in 3D on your lower screen.

Then you take to the freeways of a futuristic 22nd century Detroit city to recover the lost pieces of the Allspark. You'll race against oncoming traffic as you try and beat the evil Decepticon to the missing pieces. They'll send their Hoverbots after you, and you'll have to blast them out of your path.

When the situation demands, you can transform between robot and vehicle shape, or even switch control to other members of the Transformers team to use their special skills to try and solve teamwork-based puzzles.

You can use Optimus Prime to take down an end of level boss, or Bumblebee to out-race your enemies. Bulkhead comes in useful for smashing things, and Prowl is always useful when it's time to get stealthy.
