Summary

It's nice to see that the point and click adventure hasn't yet died out in this age of first person shooters and online role playing games. And you can believe that it takes an indie developer like Amanita Design to continue to explore the genre with great artistic flair.

Machinarium sees you guide a robot who has been sent to the scrap heap – but the Black Cap Brotherhood has plans to take over the city of Machinarium while you're away. Using your brain matter to overcome various obstacles and environmental puzzles, you must help the robot journey back to rescue his girlfriend and save the city mayor.

Quirky hand-drawn environments greet you at every screen of your adventure, showing off a truly inspired steam-punk world. Story progression is detailed by use of animated gestures and cartoon thought bubbles, leaving the imagination to understand dialogue – which is just as well really, given that the whole game is a leap into the developer's creative imagination.

With this Collector's Edition of Machinarium, players can grab some additional goodies. It includes a soundtrack CD, 54-page concept art booklet, A2 poster and a walkthrough guide – perfect for enjoying all the artistic elements of the game after completion.
