Summary
The classic light gun game has had trouble staying alive, thanks to the refresh rate and incompatibility with HD TV sets. Nintendo's Wii overcomes that with the Wii Remote and sensor bar, and as a result has been home to a lot of Sega's past arcade hits. This new compilation pack brings two rare gun games from the past to a new audience – Gunblade NY and LA Machineguns.
Connecting these two titles is the vehicles you ride in – Gunblade NY puts you in a helicopter gunship as you make light work of terrorists on the ground. LA Machineguns has you fighting enemy androids in some of America's most populated cityscapes – but that's fine because you get to battle them in your flying combat ship too.
The graphics are faithful to the original 1990s coin-operated machines, adding to the authentic experience. It's not just a port however – many different improvements have been added to these games to take them both to this generation. Take on enemies with any combination of Wii Remote setup, or use the Wii Zapper and throw yourself into the arcade action.
A Chain Combo System lets you get higher scores than before, and you can even unlock hidden extras for your weapons by ranking in a particular way. These extras include a wide shot, to rapid fire and a heavy shot.
