Summary
SEGA’s classic tennis simulation returns with new players, new controller options but with the design skills of the original Virtua Tennis team.
Current greats including Rafael Nadal, Roger Federer, Novak Djokovic, Andy Murray, Juan Martín del Potro , Andy Roddick, Fernando González , Tommy Haas, Philipp Kohlschreiber , Gaël Monfils, Andreas Seppi , Venus Williams, Ana Ivanovic, Caroline Wozniacki , Svetlana Kuznetsova, Maria Sharapova, Anna Chakvetadze, Laura Robson are all available to play.
Gamers can control either these real world stars or take up the option of World Tour Career mode in which the player’s own created tennis star moves from talented amateur up the ranks to Grand Slam tournaments. This mode does not just require a honing of forehand, backhand and dropshots however, each off-court decision – from coach to kit will also make a difference to ultimate success of dismal also ran.
The offline modes – single and multiplayer in singles or doubles modes including quick matches – is complemented by a new Online Mode.
This comes with a choice of Competitive or Casual areas to either score your way to the top of leaderboards or simply have fun with friends from around the world.
The new Online Hub features a competitive matchmaking system and online tournaments.
Kinect owners will also benefit from support for Microsoft’s hands-free controller for added realism.
