Summary
Family Farm will be familiar to both fans of Maxis’ The Sims and the online Farmville sensation in that it combines both people management and agricultural simulation.
Gamers create a small 19th Century Family Farm which is used as their base to interact with various characters, crops and animals. Each of the characters comes with different skills. Each of the crop types and animals has their specific needs. The idea is to grow both the family and the farm so that all of these elements can be upgraded and expanded.
The game requires the gamer to plan and execute their activities with skill and precision – for example, the harvesting season sees all relevant activities taking place in real-time. Activities involve preparing the soil, sowing the seed in the right areas and in the right conditions. Players must then harvest crops or care for livestock.
On top of this, the family and staff must be looked after to ensure maximum productivity. This means cooking meals for example, or even calculating and paying over time. Family Farm includes ten stories to follow, a range of cute animals including horses and cows to sheep and chickens; changing weather conditions as well as a tutorial, statistics, achievements and trophies.
