Summary

Based on the anime series Bakugan Battle Brawlers: New Vestroia, the new DS title Rise of the Resistance is the latest game to feature the tiny plastic spheres that explode and transform into hugely powerful monsters. A whole new selection of monsters is invading the world of New Vestroia and it's down to the gamer to help save it.

Playing as Dan (or one of another five characters from the series), you travel through six huge lands, controlling and upgrading your own personal Bakugan.

When it comes to fighting time, you take on wave after wave of enemies, all the while considering what is the best option to succeed at that exact moment. With real-time fighting incorporated into Bakugan: Rise of the Resistance, the player must select and change their Bakugan at the right time to defeat the opposition and protect New Vestroia from evil.

This game isn't just for kids though – the fighting element draws on a simplified version of a tower defence game, meaning that thought and consideration need to be at the forefront of the strategies chosen. No longer is it a matter of throwing the most powerful Bakugan into battle and hoping for the best. With over eight elemental variations across thirty-four Bakugan, the gamer will always need to stay on their toes.
