Summary

One Piece: Pirate Warriors is an beat-'em-up from Tecmo Koei and a PlayStation 3 exclusive title. First published in Japan in March of 2012, it arrives in the UK via Namco Bandai.

Based firmly in the manga tradition, the game is not only an action title, it also commemorates of the 15th anniversary of the One Piece manga and anime series created by Eiichiro Oda. The game also makes use of elements familiar to players of the classic Dynasty Warriors games.

Pirate Warriors uses the lead character from the One Piece series: a young boy called Monkey D. Luffy. In this game, Luffy must organise and lead a pirate crew by the name of The Straw Hats as they hunt for the One Piece of treasure. Along the way they must do battle with a variety of villainous foes.

The game has a variety of modes split into 'Logs'. Main logs has Story Mode and Adventure Mode, both of which use Monkey D Luffy. The former allows the player to experience the unique story of One Piece. The latter lets the player experience the One Piece series in more detail. Battle Mode is full-on combat. Also included is “Another Log” in which the player can use other character's (including fan favourites Zorro and Nami) storylines, including narratives that are specific to this title.

Of course, each character has their own signature moves and 'Gomu-Gomu' attacks. Plenty of content for any would-be pirates!
