Summary

In Nintendo Presents: New Style Boutique for the Nintendo 3DS, it's the player's task to play the role of a shop assistant at a local fashion outlet. The plan, however, is to learn all there is to learn about fashion in order to work all the way up to ownership of their very own chic boutique. This will enable them to influence style all over town as well as becoming queen or king of the catwalk.

The game sees the player having to deal with a variety of new customers, each of whom has their own unique preferences. This entails working out what type of clothing they would like based on what they’re already wearing, as well as their personalities.

The aim here is to optimally match the right clothing and accessories to each customer, and doing so will make the boutique more popular. But it is no simple job. There are in the region of 12,000 items available to choose from across a variety of brands. And it's not just clothes and shoes, there are also fashion accessories and – for the first time – bags. Also included is men’s fashionwear.

All of this fashion fitting means buying the right stuff and this means making the best deals at the Exhibition Hall – another major strand in the game.

As each customer goes away happy, new parts of town are opened up with new contacts such as the Hairdressers and the Photo Studio to get. Happy customers also mean that more brands and new interior designs for the boutique open up too.

The game demands that schedules are kept, people are met and the latest fashions are kept up with or the boutique will be closed and people will be forced to shop out of a town that already has fashion unemployment.

Gamers in the UK will benefit from the fact that Nintendo of Europe has partnered with a Parisian style agency to coordinate a number of outfits unique to the European version of the game – this is reflected in the character's in-game outfit changing on a seasonal basis.

The Nintendo 3DS enables gamers to download brand new items for their private wardrobe. The StreetPass system also enables swapping of Stylist Cards with other players. Players can also use the 3DS' Augmented Reality technology to position up to two of the fashionable game characters “in the real world” and capture them in a picture.

Also included is the “Check Your Look” feature lets players check out their ownstyle by creating an outfit which is then judged based on six categories: Cute Factor, Cool Factor, Flash Factor, Originality, Overall Balance and Fashion Factor.
