Summary
If you're going to be a leader of men, you might as well follow in the footsteps of one of the USA's greatest ever generals. History: Legends of War puts players at the command post of George S. Patton. The game takes players through a semi-fictionalised version of Europe circa World War II.
Things begin one month after the Normandy landings. From there, players must fight their way to retake Paris and then on to Berlin. The scenarios are based on real historical operations such as Operation Cobra, the Siege of Cherbourg and the Chambois Pocket!
Gameplay is largely turn-based, with a hint of RPG elements. You're required to command both the larger movement of units and the actions they take on a smaller level, such as whether to fire off a shot or lob a grenade. Winning the day means being able to both focus on the bigger picture and make decisions in the heat of battle.
Beyond the single-player mode, there's a hot seat multiplayer mode. With this engaged, a second player can take control of the Germans, with players taking turns to make their moves.
General George S. Patton might not desperatey need your help, but why not give him a hand anyway? The last great war is calling. Will you answer?
