Summary
The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds has both a strong legacy and a twist that's very specific to its modern platform, the 3DS. Set in the world of the Super NES classic, The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds, the game's story follows on from its predecessor.
Bringing things up to date for the handheld's unique selling point, however, is the inclusion of 3D and the ability to become two-dimensional at will. The inclusion of that all-important third dimension might seem a little obvious, but it makes a real difference to gameplay. With the added depth, players can better judge the positions of things like platforms and flying enemies. If being 3D is getting problematic, however, players can always turn Link 2D - literally! Can't reach a key plaform? Just flatten Link out and have him hop onto a wall, scooting round it like a living painting.
Perhaps the most important function of being 2D, however, is being able to slip through the cracks that link Hyrule with its dark counterpart, Lorule.
Another new addition is Ravio's shop. Now, all the basic items you need are available from the shop, so long as you can pay for them! As any Zelda fan knows, you need certain items to complete certain dungeons. With them available from the shop, you're now free to tackle the dungeons in any order you fancy.
Streetpass functionality also brings multiplayer to the game. If you make use of it, other players will appear in your game as shadow Links for you to fight. If you win, you'll reap in-game rewards!
