Summary

Ratchet & Clank is the game of the movie of the game. Except it's also kind of a direct reimagining of a game, too. Basically, the game has been developed to release alongside this year's CGI Ratchet & Clank movie, and Insomniac has taken its very first game from the series - dating all the way back to 2002 as a starting point.

So the series' cute, fun blend of platforming, shooting and action/adventure is well and truly accounted for. This is a game that gets right to the DNA of what has made this series a fan favourite, with rich, bright environments and crazy, imaginative weapons - as well as a sense of humour that Pixar fans would feel very at home with.

Insomniac has taken the first Ratchet & Clank game as a starting point, but this is far from being a straightforward remake. Many of the original's locations reappear, but they've been re-mapped and remixed, while brand new environments have been thrown in for good measure. Similarly, Insomniac has drawn on 14 years of Ratchet & Clank games to bring some of its signature weapons to this title, meaning players can make use of the likes of the Groovitron and the Sheepinator, as well as fine tune them with the robust upgrade system Insomniac has developed over the last decade and a half.

In short, there's plenty here for Ratchet & Clank fans looking for something new to play, but it's a great jumping on point for those just discovering the titular heroes too!
