Summary

Star Wars Battlefront was, undoubtedly, the most iconic Star Wars video game of the blockbuster franchise's new era. With excitement about The Last Jedi mounting to fever pitch, EA and developer DICE are back to give gamers another grand tour of what makes the Star Wars universe great.

Like its predecessor, Battlefront II will immerse you in iconic battles. You might rush through waves of enemies on Starkiller Base, lightsabre in hand; storm through the canopy of a hidden rebel base on Yavin 4 or take part in truly epic interplanetary dogfights from the cockpit of an X-wing. The battlefields span three eras - prequel, classic and new trilogy, and as you blast and slice your way through them you'll get the chance to ride tauntauns, take down Star Destroyers and harness the Force against iconic characters like Kylo Ren, Darth Maul, or Han Solo

Or, this time out, fight your way through a single-player campaign spanning 30 years as Iden, an elite Imperial special forces soldier with her own war to fight.

DICE hasn't been resting on its laurels, either. It's been listening to fan feedback and, while the aim is still to provide an accessible shoorter, the team has been layering in additional features to add depth that will make it more akin to the likes of DICE's other big series, Battlefield. One example is the new class system with assault, heavy, specialist and officer classes that each offer their own unique skills and abilities. Combine these in the right way and you've got a game going in a more strategic, teamplay focused direction. There's also the addition of battle points, rewards for kills or completing objectives that can be spent between spawns for one-time use classes or vehicles.

Star Wars: Battlefront II is a big, rich exploration of a galaxy far, far away. Fans are in for a treat.
