Summary

You're shipwrecked on a mysterious island. Your memory's gone, you don't know why you're there and there are most definitely secrets to unlock. Welcome to Rime, the long-anticipated exploration game from developer Tequila Works.

As you explore the sun-drenched islands you'll solve numerous environment-based puzzles with the occasional help of a friendly fox. That might mean commandeering the local fauna to trample down undergrowth that's in your way, or it might involve more mystical exercises such as manipulating time. While the game's atmosphere is largely chilled out and breezy, however, don't expect to go untroubled by the locals. Strange creatures lurk around the island, and some of them mean you harm...

Rime wears its influences on its sleeve, and fans of games like Ico and The Last Guardian are likely to be delighted. The developers' approach to guiding you through the islands is very hands off. You'll notice the occasional button prompt, but other than that there's no HUD and all the information you need is in the environment, leaving you to pick your own way through the world.

What a world it is, too. With lush, cel-shaded graphics and a hint of Studio Ghibli in the design, this Mediterranean-inspired island is certainly a looker. Anyone looking for an otherworldly island getaway is certainly in for a treat.
