Summary
The Need for Speed series continues its Fast and the Furious aspirations in Payback, with blockbuster action driving at the kinds of speeds that would make Vin Diesel weep.
Set in the underworld of Fortune Valley (a Las Vegas stand-in) the game reunites you with your crew to take revenge against the top dogs in the area, The House, a tough-as-nails cartel that runs everything from the city's casinos to its criminals to its cops. Take on challenges as Tyler, the Racer; Mac, the Showman; and Jess, the Wheelman, going up against rival crews until you're ready to take on their boss in a wide array of events.
The team at Ghost Games has put customisation front and centre in Payback. This is still definitely an arcade racer, but now there's tons of options to pimp and tweak your ride in a way that's sure to appeal to the petrolheads out there. The devs clearly know what they're doing, with a ton of parts and decals from real world tuning brands included in the game. There are five car classes; Race, Drift, Off-Road, Drag, and Runner, and you'll need to master all of them to be the best.
From tense heist missions to explosive car battles to eye watering set pieces to relentless police chases, Need for Speed Payback is out to get your adrenal glands pumping.
