Summary

In Star Trek the crews tend to specialise. You're a doctor, or an engineer, or a pilot, or a face puncher/chief alien seducer (Kirk, we're looking at you). In Genesis: Alpha One you can jump out of an airlock right now if you think you're going to have that light a workload. Among the ambitious list of things for you to do in Genesis: Alpha One are: space exploration; spaceship building; mining; farming; gene-splicing and crew cloning; fighting off alien infestations.

The story goes: Earth is dying because... well, it's not much of a stretch of the imagination, is it? So you're off into the great unknown aboard the Genesis, a ship designed to find mankind a home amidst the stars. You get to build and expand your ship, snapping modules together from greenhouses, workshops, hangars, guardposts and everything a big old spacecraft needs, basically. You'll discover new worlds and harvest their resources, encounter the wrecks of lost ships, dodge through asteroid fields, avoid deadly cosmic spores and keep an eye out for sun storms. It's a very dangerous galaxy out there, and it's procedurally generated so no two expeditions out there will be the same.

Plus, every now and then you'll have to fight off a swarm of aliens in roguelike first-person shooter encounters. Even better, once you've finished plastering the walls with alien guts, you can harvest them for DNA that might have useful traits and graft it on to your crew in the cloning bays.

Developer Radiation Blue is going big with Genesis: Alpha One and it's sure to be an interesting and ambitious ride!
