Once upon a time the open ocean was the ultimate frontier, a place of freedom where a person could live and die according to their own code. It's this freedom that Rare is ambitiously trying to capture in Sea of Thieves, its open world adventure.

Co-op play is at the heart of Sea of Thieves. You'll set sail with friends and explore the high seas, uncovering treasure, mysterious artifacts and mythic monsters of the deep. The ships work like a ship ought to - sails need rigging, the rudder needs manning, cannons need firing and maintenance needs keeping up. If you're skilled you might be able to sail by yourself, but it's really about working with your crew to explore the ocean and the islands that populate it. In short, with the sails flapping and the water lapping against your hull, you'll feel like you're aboard the Jolly Roger. And just as the ships feel real, so do the threats.

It's not just monsters and treacherous oceans you need to worry about. Each sail you see marks another player. This is a world filled with real people with real motives that are all too human. Are they friend or foe? Will they help you or attempt to send you to a watery grave? Every interaction becomes charged with the unpredictability that real people bring to the table.
