Following their departure from Sega Corporation, Genki was formed in 1990 by Hiroshi Hamagaki and Tomo Kimura. The company has produced of 70 titles on numerous platforms, including SNES, Sega Mega CD, 3DO, Saturn, PS1, N64, Dreamcast, Xbox, PC, DS, PSP and Xbox 360.
The word "Genki" means "Vigor", "Active" and "Fine", and is typically associated with a person's health. The company logo is taken from a drawing created by co-founder Hiroshi Hamagaki's son when he was 3 years old.
Genki's first work that SPOnG is aware of is the 1991 title, "Shanghai 3" (SNES).
The company has been involved titles released on the PC, Wii, PS3, Xbox 360, DS/DSi, PS2, PSP, Xbox, PlayStation, Dreamcast, N64, Saturn, SNES, 3DO and Sega MegaCD.
The company's most recent involvement was on the 2009 release "Spectrobes: Origins" (Wii).
