SPOnG: How involved is the mod toolset included in the game? Will players be able to set up absolutely anything within the level, or will there be limitations of some sort?

Alex Werner: We can’t promise you that, but it is likely that the editor will be shipped with the game and you will not only be able to change existing levels, but also create your own. You can create cut-scenes through to whole campaigns for both single-player and multi-player.

SPOnG: Last time Crysis was showcased, many people noted that the frame-rate needed some work. How many of the early problems in the game have been ironed out?

Alex Werner: Unfortunately the frame rate is part of the final optimisation process, which comes at the end of a project. During development we have several optimisation phases, but the final push is at the end. Thus all early demos do not show the quality or performance we will finally deliver!

SPOnG: What will be the rough specifications needed to run Crysis efficiently on a gaming rig?

Alex Werner: We are still optimising the game, and any specifications we would give now will be obsolete later. But we can tell you that a gamer’s PC you would buy now will be enough to handle the game. Our motto for benchmarking always has been that we will benchmark against any great game on the same PC to stay cutting-edge.

SPOnG: During development, what have been the highs and lows of making Crysis?

Alex Werner: We had many ambitious ideas we had to drop due to time or technical difficulties, like a streaming, consistent world. But, on the other hand, the focus on the Nanosuit actually works very well as planned – it’s so much fun to sprint past a vehicle and jump on top of buildings. And don’t forget that after years of development we are finally seeing the levels as we imagined them in the beginning, which shows that all the long hours pay off in the end.

SPOnG: Do you feel that Crysis is a one-off game, or that potentially a series could be made out of it like Far Cry?

Alex Werner: Nothing is decided yet, but we still have many ideas to spin the story further, far beyond Crysis (1)… (smiles). Crysis has always had a trilogy framework, so let's stay tuned for what the future will bring!

SPOnG: Thanks a lot for your time.
