Summary

OK, so all you brain surgeons and rocket scientists have probably worked out what this Playstation title is all about, but for those of you still in the dark, it's a pinball game, and it's themed around international man of mystery, Austin Powers. Surprised? No.

Now, unless you've been living in an Amish community for the last 30 odd years then you'll no doubt be familiar with the concept of pinball. Once prohibited in the US, deemed to be a form of gambling, this ball-flipping pastime has been emulated in game form for as long as there have been systems on which to play it. Now, in what must surely be one of the last releases for Sony's ageing grey box, Austin Powers Pinball regurgitates the tried-and-tested formula, delivering high score shooting action on two pinball tables, based on the first two films.

Dr. Evil is back with his overly optimistic plans for world domination and it's up to you to work your mojo and defeat him and his crew of non-swinging minions. 14 missions feature in total, set across the two virtual tables, including such delights as Groovy Baby, Subterranean Probe and Mini-Me. Accurate ball movement and physics make for a realistic experience as you shoot your way through the levels, unlocking bonus missions, mystery awards and even an Austin Powers quiz.

In a nutshell, that's about it. What more can one say about it? It's Austin Powers, it's a pinball game and you can get it for under a tenner. Groovy, baby!
