Summary

Ten years on from Revolution's first Broken Sword title, after battling dragons, Mayan gods and joining the Knights Templar, unwitting hero George Stobbart is trying to get back to his regular life and his 9-5 desk job when he finds a beautiful and enigmatic woman waiting for him. Without warning, she vanishes, leading George into a frantic search for an artefact of great and terrible power.

Revolution hasn't just spent the last three years crafting a new story for this latest instalment. Instead, the predecessor's graphics engine has been replaced with a completely new, more detailed 3D system. Now, Broken Sword: The Angel of Death's characters are more colourful and varied thanks to the proprietary Virtual Actor System. Rendering more believable facial expressions, the system projects each character's emotions as you interact with them, as they are once again brought to life with excellent voice acting.

Back in control of Stobbart, who is - sigh - once again charged with saving the world, you're armed with a richly illustrated manuscript that holds as many secrets as it does clues. As you progress, information gleaned from the characters you meet or uncovered from the many locations across the world helps you decode the manuscript's secrets and move toward revealing the identity of 'the one true patriarch' in a gripping and intriguing story that is deftly interwoven with factual context.

To assist in your decoding of the manuscript, you carry a PDA. Beyond the usual note-taking and lists of contacts, the PDA can be used as a hacking tool. The hacking puzzles, once completed, result in access being granted to various databases around the world, which are then cross referenced with the information contained in the manuscript.
