Summary

The X-Men may protect a world that hates and fears them, but in X-Men Destiny things are taken to a whole new level. Not only that, but it's up to players to really find their own way to deal with the situation.

X-Men Destiny takes place in a parallel timeline in which Charles Xavier is dead and Cyclops and the X-Men are struggling to keep the peace, even as Magneto and the Brotherhood try to push things over the edge. When a peace rally is attacked by an unknown assailant things hit boiling point and San Francisco erupts into violence.

Rather than taking on the role of an existing X-Man to deal with it, though, players will build up a brand new character. Choosing one of three templates, players will be able to pick their own power-set and develop it over the course of the game. They'll be able to choose between rock-fisted strength, ranged energy blasts and fast-moving melee abilities. Beyond that, there are special powers to be picked up across the course of the game.

That's not the end of the choices you have to make, though. You also have to choose between siding with the X-Men, sharing the screen with iconic heroes, and helping the Brotherhood, fighting alongside notorious villains. With an RPG-style storyline, there's plenty for fans of the comics to sink their teeth into.
