Summary

Bad news: the apocalypse has happened. Good news: it's happening all over again, and this time you get to participate. In a giant robot mech suit, no less!

Yes, FromSoftware's Armored Core series is back with Verdict Day. There's a heavy emphasis on customisation, which you'll notice as soon as you fire the game up. If you're so inclined, you can spend hours pouring over stats and comparing things like different mech arms.

Take the time to fine tune your mech and you'll get on just fine, blasting the heck out of other mechs across a ravaged landscape. New parts are rolled out regularly, so there will be plenty of opportunity to upgrade your machine and keep things humming along.

This time out the operator mode has being expanded, adding a whole new element to the game. Operators can now command a squad of AI-controlled mechs, basically bringing a realtime strategy element to proceedings.

Much emphasis has been placed on online play. Where last time players could join a team, now teams can take things a step further and pledge allegiance to one of three factions, adding an extra dimension to online wars. Beyond that, world status will update at regular intervals, giving players seasons to dominate.

If you like stomping around in giant mechs, Armored Core: Verdict Days has plenty of moving parts to keep you happy.
